Choices, choices…I have the worst habit of buying clothes and wearing them only a handful of times. If you want to forego any layering or extra pieces, check out your accessories options. Ten new outfits right there.
I need to remember to be more creative sometimes.

Once you have mastered time, you will understand how true it is that most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year - and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade.

An idea: if you’ve been dying to try a new trend, happen to go through shoes in less than ten wears thanks to those things called bars, or have an event in half an hour and need a last minute pair to complete your outfit, skip the high luxe options. Every single pair of shoes above retails for under $35. And every single pair is from Forever 21. Shockingly not-so-shocking, right? Don’t worry, they won’t tell people where they’re from. Dropping a serious amount of bones on shoes for the reasons mentioned earlier shouldn’t be a necessity. While shoes are a good investment, be practically-minded if you know you need to be. And as far as comfort and quality go, you’re actually ripping the brand off as these will surprisingly go a long way. Trends come and go in the blink of an eye but in transient situations, your moola shouldn’t.
SG shoutout.

Since we’re always looking for fashionable ways to give back, EDUN’s poem scarves should be on your radar for the holidays. A socially conscious clothing company launched in Spring 2005 by Ali Hewson and Bono, EDUN’s mission is to create great clothes while fostering sustainable employment in developing areas of the world. Available in Jungle Green, Raw Steel Grey, and Black, each scarf features a print of the Rilke poem “The Eighth Elegy” in cursive:
With all its eyes the natural world looks out into the Open. Only our eyes are turned backward, and surround plant, animal, child like traps, as they emerge into their freedom. We know what is really out there only from the animal´s gaze; for we take the very young child and force it around, so that it sees objects—not the Open, which is so deep in animals´ faces. Free from death. We, only, can see death; the free animal has its decline in back of it, forever, and God in front, and when it moves, it moves already in eternity, like a fountain. Never not for a single day, do we have before us that space into which flowers endlessly open.

If you want your watch to make a statement (at the gym), ask for the limited edition Casio G-Shock Mini Deco-G for Christmas. Should the blanket of hand-selected Swarovski crystals not do it for you, perhaps the pink metallic dial against the white case and strap will. Though this watch has its fancy face on compared to G-Shock’s other watches for women, be rest assured that it still functions just the same. In addition to the standard time, date, and DLS indicator, the Deco-G also includes a 48 city world timer, stopwatch, countdown timer, 5 daily alarms, and a solid backlight. The watch is also 100 meters water resistant, and highly shock resistant. Available only at Bloomingdale’s in Manhattan (at $200). For more information visit gshockmini.com.
Alicia Keys has teamed up with Canadian designer Gisele Theriault to launch a jewelry line called The Barber’s Daughters. The collection features silver and gemstone pieces inscribed with quotes and poetry from iconic figures such as Gandhi, Buddha and Shakespeare. From the photos I’ve seen, I’m kind of mixed about the line so far- the huge cuff bracelet is great but some of the necklaces come off as a bit bulky in hardware for my taste.
The collection debuted in New York this week and goes on sale in 2010. It is currently being sold through Collette Blanchard Gallery in a temporary “pop-up” shop on Manhattan’s lower east side. Ranging from necklaces and earrings, to watches, cuffs and bracelets, pieces are priced from $85 to $2,500.

Photo: Fuck Yeah Georgina Wilson
As far as fashion icons go, Filipina-English model Georgina Wilson is at the top of my list. She manages to turn even the most transient of fashion trends into timeless pieces of vogue. She never compromises her own style to fit the trend but instead incorporates the trend to fit her style. Her look reminds of you why buying basics will always be good investments and why fabulous accessories, like shoes or a eyeglasses, is all you need to make an outfit.
