The Tilde Collection

If you need a look that’s polished yet creative and still super comfortable- try this.  There might not be a whole lot to this outfit, but you’ll certainly look like you have the style to copy.  Plus, oversized button-downs, boyfriend-fit oxfords, shirt dresses…whatever you call them, they’re sexy as hell.  Especially paired with a good pair of over-the-knee boots.

On a cold and rainy day like today, I always find myself staring at people’s feet as I make my way to work.  It’s not the immense amount of polka-dotted rain boots that manage to slow down my commute.  It’s actually the logic of people’s “rain shoes” that I find intriguing.  Did you know that there are people out there who think business casual slacks deserve to be shoved into a snug rain boot and can still emerge pressed and unwrinkled?  Or that flip-flops are definitely appropriate in an autumn rainfall?  Or that hot pink rain boots stamped with martini glasses match an argyle sweater?

For your feet’s sake, here’s some guidance suggestions for that next rainy day:

1. Hunter Boots A fashion staple nowadays, everyone from Ashley Olsen to Jennifer Aniston can be seen donning the functional footwear.  They’ve proven to even be fit for a princess with Princess Diana posing in her Hunter wellies during her time in Balmoral.  With a plethora of styles and colors to choose from, the rain boots can range anywhere from $115 - $130 but be confident in the purchase: not only does Hunter provide more room to neatly tuck in those work slacks than most rain boots but the company has been keeping feet dry for over 150 years.  They win.

2. Marc by Marc Jacobs Rubber Boots That Marc Jacobs— what a guy.  Not only does he make a great rain boot by refraining from stamping, I don’t know, frogs all over it, he manages to maintain his high-luxury look while sharing it with the public for just $28. Third to best part?  All boots are black for convenience but you have the option to make it personal in choosing between pink, green, yellow, blue, and orange detailed soles.  Available in Marc by Marc Jacobs stores.

3. Burberry Check Rainboots What’s better than the Burberry check pattern?  A Burberry check pattern that’s bigger than your face.  Connecting with the more luxe things in life, you know these boots will last longer than that rainy day and their $195 price tag.  Available in Burberry stores, Burberry.com, and most department stores.

4. Fendi Tall Plastic Boot Fendi launched this Plastic Boot collection for an anniversary celebration and while the glossy look is quite refreshing, it’s the heel on the rain boot that I’m applauding.  Available in every which way— the signature Fendi “F’s”, solid patterns, white soles, mid-calf, tall boot, you name it.  Some styles are currently on sale at Bluefly.com but you can catch much of the collection at The Bag Forum.

5. Ugg Men’s Brantling For the gents: these boots should keep you dry and looking normal because let’s be honest- sneakers with a suit just looks weird.  For $200, Ugg combines practicality with convenience in this slip-on rain boot.  Comes in Black and Broth at Uggs.com
