Choices, choices…I have the worst habit of buying clothes and wearing them only a handful of times. If you want to forego any layering or extra pieces, check out your accessories options. Ten new outfits right there.
I need to remember to be more creative sometimes.

Loooove.

An idea: if you’ve been dying to try a new trend, happen to go through shoes in less than ten wears thanks to those things called bars, or have an event in half an hour and need a last minute pair to complete your outfit, skip the high luxe options. Every single pair of shoes above retails for under $35. And every single pair is from Forever 21. Shockingly not-so-shocking, right? Don’t worry, they won’t tell people where they’re from. Dropping a serious amount of bones on shoes for the reasons mentioned earlier shouldn’t be a necessity. While shoes are a good investment, be practically-minded if you know you need to be. And as far as comfort and quality go, you’re actually ripping the brand off as these will surprisingly go a long way. Trends come and go in the blink of an eye but in transient situations, your moola shouldn’t.
SG shoutout.
Target announced today its latest designer collaborations for two accessories collections to be launched in April 2010. Cynthia Vincent, known for her chunky-heels, platforms, and colorful flats that run anywhere from $200 - $500, will be designing a more affordable line with some styles even being available exclusively on Target.com. Her line of footwear will be the fifth footwear collaboration for Target and will be available from April 18 - July 1 of next year.
Previews of collection are not yet available but this is classic Cynthia Vincent: Women’s Tashi Flat - $225:
Also in focus will be Eugenia Kim, who’s pricey hats have become a staple to many New Yorkers. Kim will be designing a more affordable line of her vogue headwear to be released next spring (available at Target from April 18 - June 20). She’s already designed a line of more affordable hats for Urban Outfitters called Eek! by Eugenia Kim, which is adorable and falls in the $30 - $40 range (with some pieces on sale going for $9.99 right now!) so I’m very excited what she will come up with for Target. Since her hats normally range between $100 - $300, these more affordable lines could only be well-received by those looking for something new.
A classic Eugenia Kim piece: Craig Mink Velour Mini Fedora - $253:
Target does it again. Can’t wait for next spring.

On a cold and rainy day like today, I always find myself staring at people’s feet as I make my way to work. It’s not the immense amount of polka-dotted rain boots that manage to slow down my commute. It’s actually the logic of people’s “rain shoes” that I find intriguing. Did you know that there are people out there who think business casual slacks deserve to be shoved into a snug rain boot and can still emerge pressed and unwrinkled? Or that flip-flops are definitely appropriate in an autumn rainfall? Or that hot pink rain boots stamped with martini glasses match an argyle sweater?
For your feet’s sake, here’s some guidance suggestions for that next rainy day:
1. Hunter Boots A fashion staple nowadays, everyone from Ashley Olsen to Jennifer Aniston can be seen donning the functional footwear. They’ve proven to even be fit for a princess with Princess Diana posing in her Hunter wellies during her time in Balmoral. With a plethora of styles and colors to choose from, the rain boots can range anywhere from $115 - $130 but be confident in the purchase: not only does Hunter provide more room to neatly tuck in those work slacks than most rain boots but the company has been keeping feet dry for over 150 years. They win.
2. Marc by Marc Jacobs Rubber Boots That Marc Jacobs— what a guy. Not only does he make a great rain boot by refraining from stamping, I don’t know, frogs all over it, he manages to maintain his high-luxury look while sharing it with the public for just $28. Third to best part? All boots are black for convenience but you have the option to make it personal in choosing between pink, green, yellow, blue, and orange detailed soles. Available in Marc by Marc Jacobs stores.
3. Burberry Check Rainboots What’s better than the Burberry check pattern? A Burberry check pattern that’s bigger than your face. Connecting with the more luxe things in life, you know these boots will last longer than that rainy day and their $195 price tag. Available in Burberry stores, Burberry.com, and most department stores.
4. Fendi Tall Plastic Boot Fendi launched this Plastic Boot collection for an anniversary celebration and while the glossy look is quite refreshing, it’s the heel on the rain boot that I’m applauding. Available in every which way— the signature Fendi “F’s”, solid patterns, white soles, mid-calf, tall boot, you name it. Some styles are currently on sale at Bluefly.com but you can catch much of the collection at The Bag Forum.
5. Ugg Men’s Brantling For the gents: these boots should keep you dry and looking normal because let’s be honest- sneakers with a suit just looks weird. For $200, Ugg combines practicality with convenience in this slip-on rain boot. Comes in Black and Broth at Uggs.com
